Is it worth paying the difference? I don't watch tons of vids, so it isn't a big issue, but then again, nor do I play tons of games, though I'd like to catch up on a few that I couldn't play due to insufficient hardware, such as Half-Life 2. Especially as I'm seeing the VP191b's supposed successor, the Viewsonic VP930b, at $410-$420 at a number of vendors ().

However, on further consideration, as I don't upgrade these things every six months (my current 17-inch Viewsonic CRT, on its last legs, is several years old), I've been having second thoughts. Although the reviews have clearly pointed out the VP191b as the best overall monitor, I haven't seen it once below $435, and I haven't been able to convince myself the extra made sense. As stated in another thread, I'm seeking to buy a 19-inch LCD, with a rough budget set at US$350, which is to serve multiple purposes, including some gaming and video watching. I never thought this would even be a choice, but I figure what the heck. ^- Let these two asses be set to grind corn. So far I've seen no comments from reviewers or people who have hands-on experience with the monitor, which is quite valuable seeing as there's sometimes a big gap between theory/white papers and practice. On the other hand, nothing dictates that I (or anyone) should go with the VP930. LCDs only radiate photons, and only about as much as a low intensity light bulb. Also I don't like the idea of constantly being bombarded by electrons for seven more years. And I can't really justify getting a CRT in terms of the space sacrificed on my desktop. Seeing as my current monitor is about seven years old, I think it's time to get a new one. I don't really want to sacrifice any of those.

I really like this monitor but if a problem like this happens due to the slightest power surge, I don't know if I can trust using it again. So maybe I should try a new DVI cable, and if that doesn't work, I'm probably looking into getting a new monitor. And now when I tried plugging my monitor back in, the color tint is even worse.
I've already tried to plug it in to another computer, I am using DVI, I tried analog on the other computer (my video card doesn't have any analog plugins) same deal.
I have an APC surge protector, that has always done me justice. The only other thing I can think of was that it was damaged possibly in the power surge. I tried reinstalling all the codecs and drivers, and it still doesn't seem to be fixed. Well, as I went on, I began to notice that maybe it wasn't just reset, but that something was seriously wrong with it, sometimes during games, it would get this major greenish tint.
I loaded it back up and there seemed to be something off on the color or visuals, I thought it had reset something, so I did my best to fix the problem. I think it was about 3 months after that, there was a power surge of some sort and my computer went dead while I was on.
